Best Practices in Cyber Security and Broker Safety Summit

The Summit's goal is to help you reduce your exposure to cyber and safety incidents that occur in our industry, so that every WVMLS Member comes home safely. We want you "armed" with the knowledge to need to help you maneuver the challenges of our digital world.

We've assembled both nationally and locally recognized safety and security experts! Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Real Estate safe work practices

  • Safely screen and show clients safe open houses, virtually and in-person

  • How to prospect and convert FSBOs and sellers using safety

  • Cybersafety and security practices for scams, frauds, ID theft, prevention protection, and mitigation

  • Online resources for checking criminal records, background information for buyers and sellers

“Tracey, the Safety Lady” is a former agent and has taught thousands of agents to live and work safely. She was selected to speak at the NAR conference in November.


She has also created the country’s only real estate agent safety designation, the Consumer Safety and Security Specialist (CSSS), designed to teach agents to make more money working safely and protecting the consumer. She also created the only broker, manager, and owner office safety policy certification workshop with an office safety policy handbook.


She is the real estate safety writer for The Close, is a contributing writer for the National Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® Magazine and RIS Media. She is regularly quoted in Inman and has been featured in other real estate industry publications, as well as featured on The Today Show, the Boston Globe, Quicken Loans’ Rocket Homes, the Washington Post, cnn.com, abcnews.com, Des Moines Register, the Kansas City Star, ABC.


She appears on television to discuss and review safety and security products and topics on CBS, NBC and FOX news affiliates and MORE!"

Summit's Distinguished Panel of Speakers:

Ellen Klem, Director of Consumer Outreach & Education, Oregon Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General

Ellen is the director of consumer outreach and education for the Office of the Attorney General. Her mission is to prevent financial harm to Oregonians, especially older adults, Oregonians whose first language is not English, and students with large education-related debts. Previously, Ellen worked at the American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging in Washington, D.C., where she was responsible for research, policy development, advocacy, education and training. Ellen received her bachelor's degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.


Natasha Lang, Principal Broker / Owner of Natasha Lang Real Estate, LLC / Safety Expert

Natasha is a licensed broker in the State of Oregon with almost 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. Natasha will be sharing her experiences and helpful tips to help minimize the chances of you becoming a victim of crime.


Kevin Schultz, Retired Sheriffs Commander

Kevin is a retired Sheriffs Commander of 30 years with the Marion County Sheriffs Office. Kevin experience/history with street gangs, prison gangs, investigations, criminology, jail operations, crime prevention, and public safety administration.



Tina Gibbs, Curriculum Developer/Trainer, Supra Training

Tina has been with Supra for 3 years. She formerly worked with the phone company for 20 years. She loves her family and friends. Her favorite thing to do is take road trips with her dog Thor. And she is a huge football fanatic – don't bother her Monday nights, Thursday nights, or all-day Sunday – it truly is all about football! Go HAWKS!
